Buenconsejo has been accused of sexually assaulting a man in his care who had multiple sclerosis and had to use a wheelchair for mobility. He said he took the opportunity to record a video of the victim’s genitals.
“The allegations filed against Mr. Buenconsejo are, in a word, unconscionable,” DuPage County Attorney Bob Berlin was quoted as saying in a news release. “People with disabilities depend on others for their daily lives. They literally entrust their lives to their caregivers. They are said to have betrayed him.”
Prosecutors said the victim’s family became suspicious of Buenconsejo and called police.
A judge issued a $300,000 arrest warrant for Buenconsejo on Wednesday, and he was taken into custody later that night.
