CHICAGO – Lyric Opera, which bills itself as a “richly curated slate of musical events,” has announced details of its upcoming 2023-2024 performances.
Beginning in September and continuing through April 2024, the 69th season of the historic opera company will host a series of performances for fans.
Performances of “The Flying Dutchman” kick off the season with an opening gala featuring “An Evening with Audra McDonald.” Other musical shows include “Daughter of the Regiment”, “Jenufa“Cinderella”, “Champion”, “Aida” and Mozart’s “Requiem”.
“Opera is going through a very difficult time, and I am proud that the entire company rises to the challenge every day,” said Anthony Freud, president, CEO and general director of Lyric Opera, in a statement. said in “Despite the painful new economic realities of producing a grand opera, Lyric presents a varied and engaging 2023/24 season, keeping our key pillars front and center. It showcases some of the world’s greatest singers and brings a large-scale body of work that is both inspiring and thought-provoking, taking the stage and offering a fresh, contemporary perspective pointing to the future of our beloved art form.”
