Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made his first public appearance on Monday to tour Ukraine’s army since a mercenary uprising demanded his deportation. The defense ministry released a video showing Shoigu attending a meeting with military officers at the headquarters of the Ukrainian military command after boarding the helicopter. The video shows Mr Shoigu for the first time since Wagner Group head Evgeny Prigozhin declared a “justice march” late on Friday aimed at ousting the defense minister, during which the mercenaries captured the southern city of Rostov-on-Don and then marched to Moscow. The uprising ended on Saturday when Prigozhin ordered the withdrawal of his troops. The Kremlin has announced that the mercenary captain has agreed to move with his soldiers to Belarus and receive an amnesty. The uprising was the biggest challenge to President Vladimir Putin in more than two decades.
