‘Pride of Peoria’ Community Celebrates Run of Lions State Title Game
PEORIA, IL (WMBD) – The pride of Peoria, the Peoria High Lions, faced Nazareth Academy in Saturday’s state championship game.
The community still came together on Sunday to show their support for the team. The players received a standing ovation from parents and fans.
Guest speakers included Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat and Principal Annette Coleman. Both told players lessons about how they impacted the town and how their hard work and efforts would serve them later in life.
Although the seniors were disappointed with the results, they will never forget playing for the Lions.
I felt like I had a good run, I thought I could have done it, but I fell a little short… The amount of time and dedication they put into making you a man and a player is simply incredible.
Ricky Hahn, Peoria Senior Receiver
very. Really what I always dreamed of. I can’t wait to see my seniors do the same next year. How connected we were, how we knew each other before high school, how we played together. Even before football, we were always together and connected to each other.
