Security guards working with Harvey Mayor Christopher Clarke shot a Chicago man armed with a firearm and wearing a ski mask, according to a news release.
According to a Harvey release, the shooting occurred in Chicago’s Old Town district just before 2 p.m. I saw you there.
“Details got out of their car to protect the mayor,” according to the release. The assailant returned to his vehicle and slowed down.The officer was not shot.”
Chicago police arrived at 1500 North Halsted Street around 2:30 p.m. to investigate an 86-year-old man being robbed at gunpoint, and Harvey’s private security opened fire. said.
No injuries have been reported and detectives are investigating, police said.
According to Harvey’s release, Clarke was not injured and Harvey Police Department is working with the Chicago Police Department to investigate the shooting. It was not clear if the person shot by the guards opened fire.
Elected in the spring of 2019, Clark was serving a term as an alderman in Harvey’s Third Ward before defeating Harvey’s Park District president Anthony McCaskill in the mayoral election.
Clarke was involved in a ballot initiative to obtain a voter-approved term-limited referendum that would bar Eric Kellogg from seeking a fifth term as Harvey’s mayor in 2019.
