Man dies after being shot in face on southwestern side

CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man has died after being found shot on the southwest side of the city.

Officers answered a phone call fired at 1700 West 45th Street around 1:40 a.m. Friday, police said. Upon arrival, they found the man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the front left side of his face.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead shortly after.

no one has been detained. Area One detectives are investigating.
