Indiana man charged with attempted murder after shooting Glenwood cop
GLENWOOD, Illinois — A 64-year-old man from Indiana who “has nothing to do with Glenwood” has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer after he shot him Thursday night.
According to a department press release, there were reports that police were called to a ranch-style property near Glenwood Lansing Road and Cottage Grove Avenue around 6:30 p.m. and shots were fired at the residence.
According to the release, Gregory Myrick opened fire “immediately” as officers arrived.
According to the release, several agency personnel and the Southern Suburbs emergency response team searched the property, which contained a large amount of dirt, parked cars, farm equipment, and multiple unsecured barns. He was eventually found and taken into custody.
On Saturday, the police department said it had nothing to do with Glenwood, residents, or where the shooting occurred, according to a release.
No injuries have been reported.
A bail hearing is scheduled for Saturday.
