Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker issued a disaster declaration on Saturday, allowing immediate assistance and public safety assistance to help those affected by Friday’s disaster Tornado and storm damage.
These areas include Boone, Crawford, DuPage, Marion, and Sangamon counties.
of Illinois The Emergency Management Agency has been directed by Pritzker to coordinate a statewide response.
“The devastating storm that hit our state last night disrupted communities and resulted in tragic injuries and loss of life,” Pritzker said in a statement. and immediately provide all necessary assistance to our community.I will be in close contact with the Illinois Department of Emergency Management and our local partners throughout the state to assist those who have suffered loss or have been displaced. We are trying to make sure that as many resources as possible are made available to those affected. I will continue to work hard all week long.”
Some areas contain deadly roof collapses Belvidere’s Apollo Theaterin Crawford County where three people died, in both Boone and Crawford counties where about 30 structures were damaged, including Robinson Airport, and in Sangamon and Marion counties.
In DuPage County, the villages of Batavia and Addison were affected.
Multiple structures were damaged in the village of Addison, according to a news release from Pritzker’s office.
Pritzker’s office says the disaster declaration will help local governments respond to the damage and begin restoration work.
