Dumar Hamlin’s family breaks silence after he collapses in field

Tampa, Florida (WFLA) – Damar Hamlin’s family has released a statement after the NFL player horribly collapsed on the field Monday night.

Tuesday morning Hamlin’s family said, “We are truly grateful for the love and support shown to Damar during this difficult time.”

“We are deeply touched by the prayers, kind words and donations from fans across the country,” the statement said.

The family also thanked first responders and medical professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for their “extraordinary care.”

The Buffalo Bills safety collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest shortly after tackling Bengals receiver Tee Higgins in a game in Cincinnati on Monday.

Higgins caught the ball from Joe Burrow and was leading with his right shoulder when Hamlin tackled him. Hamlin was hit in the chest. He stood up quickly, but fell on his back after about three seconds.

Hamlin received medical attention and was removed from the field approximately 19 minutes after collapsing.

“[Hamlin’s] A heartbeat recovered on the field and he was transferred to UC Medical Center for further examination and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed as in critical condition. ” The bill said in a Twitter statement.

“Your generosity and compassion means the world to us,” a statement from Hamlin’s family continued.
