Driver dies in accident while transporting gunshot wounded man to South Side hospital
On Friday, the driver died in a car accident while transporting another man who had been shot to a hospital on the South Side.
A 33-year-old man was shot and shot in the hands and feet around 9:45 p.m. on the sidewalk of 4000 blocks of South Prairie Avenue, according to Chicago police.
Police said another 33-year-old man was picking him up on his way to the University of Chicago Medical Center when the driver collided with another vehicle and then a pole at Block 4700 of South King Drive.
Firefighters took the two to hospital, but the driver was pronounced dead and the man with gunshot wounds is in good health, police said.
No arrests have been reported.
Local detectives are investigating.
