DeKalb man charged with vandalism, theft

DeKalb, Illinois (WTVO) — Police arrested a DeKalb man on suspicion of damaging a car with a bat in Lee Village and then attempting to run over a fleeing victim.

Police received a 911 call around 10 a.m. on Tuesday about a man damaging a car in the Kirk Gate Road and Viking Vee Lane neighborhoods in Lee, the DeKalb County Sheriff said.

The suspect has been identified as Justin Webb, 32, of DeKalb. His car was found in Malta shortly after and he was arrested in traffic. A large wooden stick was found in his car.

Police said Webb was an ex-con and wore a GPS monitoring device. While police were detaining him in the DeKalb County Jail, a robbery was reported in rural DeKalb. Authorities said Webb’s GPS tracked him to the scene of the robbery and found stolen items in his car.

He was charged with criminal damage to property, aggravated assault, trespassing, unlawful use of a weapon, robbery, criminal damage to property, and violation of parole.
