Blood donation held in honor of fallen officer Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — After months of concern about a blood donor shortage, people flocked to Hononegger High School on Saturday to support the Rock River Valley Blood Center and the Jamie Cox Foundation.
It was for the second annual Jamie Cox Foundation Memorial Blood Donation. All donations stay local and are used by local hospitals. Organizers pointed out that it’s a quick and easy method.
Cox himself regularly donated blood.
“I am so humbled. It is amazing to see the outpouring of support from the community, not only to support and honor Jamie and the Foundation, but also to help those in the community who may be in need of donating blood.” Katilyn Cox of the Jaime Cox Foundation: “They really need help. It’s great to see someone showing up who wants to give back.”
Cox’s memory lives on through foundations that support causes he was passionate about, including helping first responders, veterans, and underprivileged youth.
