Al Roker hospitalized for health issues

Tampa, Florida (WFLA) – Today Show weathercaster Al Roker revealed on Friday that he suffered a health scare last week that required him to be hospitalized.

and Instagram postRoker said he was hospitalized because a blood clot in his leg “sent” other blood clots to his lungs.

“I am very fortunate to have had excellent medical care and to be on the road to recovery after Whack-A-Mole,” Roker said.

Roker’s colleagues wished them a speedy recovery both on air and online.

“You are the strongest person we know,” wrote NBC’s Savannah Guthrie. “We miss you, see you soon!!”

Fellow ‘Today’ personalities also shared their wishes airing on Friday. Guthrie on air said he was still “fine” and Dylan Dreyer said she called to check on him, but he immediately asked about her family.

“Hey, Dilly Dill!” Roker asked, according to Dreyer. “That’s classic Al,” she said.

Meanwhile, Roker thanked everyone for the support they showed him as he recovered.

“Thank you for all the luck and prayers and hope to see you soon,” he wrote on Instagram. “Have a nice weekend everyone.”
