Illinois State Police said an initial investigation revealed that a Greyhound passenger bus was traveling west on Interstate 70 in Madison County around 1:55 a.m. and stopped at the exit ramp to Silver Lake Rest Area. It turned out to have hit three tractor-trailers.

A second tractor-trailer appears to have struck the right rear of the bus, and a third tractor-trailer appears to have struck the rear of the second bus.

Greyhound spokesman Mike Oglnick told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the bus is heading from Indianapolis to St. Louis and is expected to arrive around 2:20 a.m. with about 30 people on board, including the driver. said in an email. He said.
