Lowell, Indiana — Lowell City officials are investigating an arson investigation after a children’s library was set on fire and an entire playground was destroyed.
On Tuesday afternoon, authorities responded to a call of a fire in the 200 block of North Fremont Street.
After an investigation, the fire brigade determined that books in a small library designed to improve children’s literacy were intentionally set on fire using an accelerant.
The flames spread and destroyed the entire playground area.
Police and firefighters said they were investigating. A $500 bounty was offered by a local businessman for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
