Rockford man charged with hit-and-run that killed woman and boy

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago police said Tuesday they had arrested a man in Rockford.

Tevin Gray, 27, faces two felony counts of reckless homicide by motor vehicle and two counts of eviction from the scene of an accident causing injury or death, police said.

Police said Gray was arrested in Rockford on Monday.

Gray was driving his Chevy Malibu at high speed recklessly at around 1:15 am on June 20, 2021 when he was hit by a car, police said.

Selina Taylor, 32, who was in the second vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County Coroner’s Office.

Four-month-old Sebastian Taylor was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

A 12-year-old boy was thrown from a car and taken to Comer in critical condition, police said. WFLD-TV.

It was not clear how police linked Gray to the crash, or whether Gray had a lawyer who might comment on the allegations against him.
