Pinon’s Meets Murder Suspect Arrives in Winnebago County for First Court Appearance

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — William Jones, 40, who was charged with killing Peggy Anderson at Pinon’s Meets, arrived in Winnebago County for his first court appearance.

Jones was arrested in Huntsville, Alabama. Early February.

On January 11, police called a grocery store at 2324 N. Court to report an armed robbery. When police arrived, they found Anderson lying at the bottom of the stairs.

Police said Anderson, 63, died around 3:30 p.m. on the back stairs leading to his second-floor apartment.

He then fled the scene in her car, leaving it behind in Douglas’ 2000 Block.

Jones was arrested in Huntsville for a traffic violation and extradited to Illinois.
