ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police detained a student who brought a weapon into the school on Tuesday, authorities said at Auburn High School.
According to a letter sent by Principal Jenny Keffer, officials overheard students threatening them, quarantined them, and retrieved their weapons.
Management said the entire incident was over in about three minutes.
“We know a lot can happen in three minutes, and we are relieved to be able to confidently say that students and staff are safe at school. We cannot share information about the investigation,” the letter said.
The school was not on lockdown and the type of weapon was not disclosed.
“Weapons have no place in our schools. Behavior like this is not consistent with our values and what our students and staff deserve,” the letter read.
