Police witness shooting in Inglewood, two injured, suspected shooter and accomplice open fire: police

Officers who witnessed the attack opened fire on the shooter and two accomplices Saturday night in Inglewood, officials said.

Police were patrolling the 5900 block of South Halstead Street around 7 p.m. when a gunman got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the SUV, killing a 17-year-old boy and two 54-year-old occupants. I witnessed an attack on Man, said the Chicago police.

Police said the boy and the man were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment, but police did not disclose their condition.

A police officer who saw the shooting opened fire on the shooter and two others in the car the shooter exited, police said. The shooter and those inside the vehicle fled, and the vehicle was later found unattended.

Police said weapons were recovered from the scene of the shooting.

No one was detained.

The Civilian Department of Police Accountability is investigating the use of force by officers and the officer who fired the weapon will be placed on 30 days’ leave.
