Chicago (wagon) — Police Chicago A community alert was issued after a man attempted to kidnap a 5-year-old girl from the northwest side of the city.
A mother and child were walking through the Belmont Kuragin neighborhood around 11:58 a.m. Thursday when a strange man began chasing them.
According to police, the man had a conversation with the mother and offered an unknown amount of money in exchange for the daughter.
After the woman refused, the man grabbed the girl’s hair and tried to pull her, according to a video released by Chicago police.
Police said the mother and daughter were able to escape safely.
The suspect was described as being between the ages of 20 and 25, about 5ft 6 tall and weighing about 160 pounds. Police said he also had a thin beard and bright red hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hat, a black T-shirt, and red shorts.
