Taipei, Taiwan (AP) — Five US lawmakers are coming to Taiwan on Friday for a day’s surprise visit, said the de facto embassy, the American Institute of Taiwan.

Members of the US House of Representatives will arrive in Taiwan on Thursday night to meet with senior leaders on the island. No details were provided about their itinerary.

Representatives Mark Takano, D-California, Elissa Slotkin, D-Michigan, Colin Allred, D-Texas, Sara Jacobs, D-Caliph. And Mace are all part of the delegation.

The trip takes place just a few weeks after a group of six Republican lawmakers visit the island. A delegation of the parliament met, among other things, with President Tsai Ing-wen, National Security Secretary Wellington Koo, and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.

This is the third visit by a US lawmaker. In June, when the island was struggling to get enough, three MPs flew to Taiwan to donate a badly needed vaccine.

Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said on Wednesday: World hegemony. “
