New York, June 11 (Xinhua)-Friday’s late trading caused the US dollar to rise sharply against its major rivals.
The dollar index, which measures greenbacks for the six major peers, surged 0.53 percent at 90.5547.
In the second half of New York trading, the euro fell from $ 1.2171 in the previous session to $ 1.2103 and the pound sterling fell from $ 1.4167 in the previous session to $ 1.4107. The Australian dollar fell from $ 0.7754 to $ 0.7702.
The US dollar bought 109.71 yen, which is higher than 109.41 yen in the previous session. The US dollar rose from CHF 0.8948 to CHF 0.8989 and from CAD 1.2088 to CAD 1.2167.
