Wisconsin woman charged with smearing blood on police officer

JANESVILLE, Wisconsin (WTVO) — A woman smeared blood on an arresting officer’s face by “trying to put a bloody finger in his mouth,” Janesville Police said.

Officers were summoned to a house on the 300 block on Park Avenue after noticing an “aggressive altercation” that lasted between 20 and 30 minutes, according to police.

Police said they contacted San Juanita Perez, 24, who was out on bail at the front door.

Officials said Perez slammed the door of an officer who asked for backup. Additional officers reportedly found Perez sneaking out of her backyard, and when she heard it, police said she ran.

When officers ordered her to stop, she complied, police said.

As officers handcuffed her, they noticed blood dripping from her fingers, police said. At that point, Perez reportedly smeared blood on the face, nose, and lips of the officer who turned around to keep the blood out of his mouth.

According to police, another officer had to arrive to take Perez into custody.

The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment as he may have been exposed to toxic blood.

Perez was incarcerated in the Rock County Jail on charges of throwing bodily fluids at a government official, misdemeanor jumping bail, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
