SpaceX is approaching the launch of a giant rocket ship after FAA review | WGN Radio 720

Cape Canaveral, Florida (AP) — SpaceX cleared an important hurdle on Monday for plans to launch a huge, futuristic rocket vessel from Texas into orbit.

The Federal Aviation Administration has completed an environmental review of Elon Musk’s Starship Base. Authorities are unaware of serious environmental issues, but require more than 75 actions to reduce their impact on the region.

According to the FAA, there is no guarantee that a launch license will be issued, as the Bocachica site must also meet other factors such as safety and financial liability requirements.

After the latest news, SpaceX tweeted: “We’re one step closer to Starship’s first orbital flight test.”

The approximately 400-foot (120-meter) starship is the most powerful rocket ever manufactured and is intended to bring people to the Moon and Mars. NASA will use it for the space agency’s planned landing on the moon by 2025.

SpaceX has launched a starship bullet-shaped upper tier into the air for miles (10 km) over the past year, resulting in some spectacular explosions, but still flying over super-heavy boosters. I’m not.

Some residents opposed the launch and landing of Starship because of the noise and closed roads, as well as the debris that fell from the failed flight. As part of the FAA’s report, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service insisted on additional measures, but noted that the operation was unlikely to endanger endangered species and their habitats.

Located at the southernmost tip of Texas, about 1,000 miles west of Cape Canaveral, SpaceX has launched astronauts to supply NASA’s International Space Station.
