Soderstrom Castle continues Halloween tradition with Ghostbusters

Peoria Heights, Illinois (WMBD) – Thousands of fun-themed trick-or-treats gather each year at Soderstrom Castle on Grandview Drive in Peoria Heights.

This year’s theme was Ghostbusters, chosen after the popular 1984 film.

The children received chocolate bars and light up rings. The home’s owner, Dr. Karl Soderström, said his focus is on making it fun for the kids.

“I thought about kids walking through here and each one having a good time. If the community likes it, that’s great. But it’s Halloween and it’s time to have a good time.” I’m just doing it,” said Soderström.

Dr. Soderstrom has owned the home for 10 years, and that’s how long he’s been hosting events.

“Well, it’s a tradition. It’s probably 100 years old. On Halloween, anyone who’s ever owned a house throws a party here for all the kids and all the people.

He said that when he put the events together, a child would appear in his mind.
