Sky falls to Phoenix Mercury 91-86 in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals

Courtney Vandersloo’s four-second layup helped him work overtime with Phoenix’s Mercury in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals. However, the Arizona-based women’s basketball team heated up in an additional quarter, beating Chicago’s Team 91-86.

Mercury Guard Diana Torashi started overtime with four points of play. Mercury led 6 with 86-79 and Sky drew the match at 2:20 to score 7 points.

Another Taurashi three point broke the tie. The ball was inbound in 31 seconds of play, and a layup by Mercury Guard Skyler Digginssmith raised the team to 91-86, leaving 12.8 overtime.

The sky couldn’t recover and I lost the second in the 5 game series.

Vandersroot led the night with 20 points and 14 assists. Carrea Copper scored 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Candace Parker finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Chicago Sky, now tied 1-1, will return to Wintrust Arena on Friday in front of a sold-out crowd.
