Chicago — The Chicago Public Health Service has removed California and Puerto Rico from the weekly COVID-19 travel recommendations on Tuesday, and Connecticut and the District of Columbia have returned to the recommendations.
The number of states and territories (48 and 3) hasn’t changed since last week.
The advisory advises that unvaccinated individuals traveling from these states and territories will be tested for virus 3-5 days after travel and will be self-quarantined at home for 7 days, even if the test is negative. It is recommended.
California and Puerto Rico have been removed from the travel advisory list for the second straight week, maintaining a daily Covid case rate of less than 15 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The daily case rate in Connecticut and DC has exceeded 15 per 100,000 inhabitants over the past week, returning to travel recommendations.
The average daily case rate in the United States per 100,000 residents is 35.8, a slight decrease from 35.4 a week ago. This is more than double the current daily COVID case rate of 15.3 in Chicago. Illinois is 22.4 (22.6 last week, 22.8 two weeks ago).
The states and territories with the highest daily COVID infection rates are West Virginia (102.3), Guam (95.4), and Alaska (80.3).
“The status of travel recommendations can change from week to week, but one thing that doesn’t change is to get vaccinated if you want to travel freely without the need for a week’s inspection or self-quarantine.” Said CDPH. Commissioner Allison Arwady, MD “Full vaccination while traveling is like getting a TSA pre-check. This is not a free pass. All to keep yourself and others healthy. You need to follow the safety guidelines carefully, but it certainly makes everything easier and less worrisome. “
CDPH hosts regular vaccination events throughout the city, and vaccines are widely available through pharmacies and healthcare providers. Home vaccinations are available free of charge to all Chicago residents through Protect Chicago At Home. Up to 10 people in a residence can be vaccinated with Pfizer (12+) or Johnson & Johnson (18+) vaccines.
For reservations, please call (312) 746-4835 or visit Chicago.gov / At Home details. Those vaccinated through the At Home program or CDPH mobile event will receive $ 100 with a Visa gift card.
