They may be right if they think that retirees can beat their old bosses back without fear of alienating potential future employers. The labor market supply and demand curve works in their favor, leaving employers with less choice. The percentage of ZipRecruiter posts that require “inexperience” has skyrocketed from 12.8% in 2020 to 22.9% this year. The percentage of people requiring a bachelor’s degree dropped from 11.4% to 8.3%. In some parts of the United States, there are large gaps between job vacancies and job seekers. For example, Nebraska has 69,000 unfilled positions and 19,300 are unemployed. Experiences that may have hurt the prospects of job seekers, such as taking a vacation to raise a child, are allowed.
