Chicago (CBS) — A woman at Logan Square is tackling a tragedy known to many Chicago families. He is the pain of losing a loved one in gun violence.
What Francester Williams didn’t expect was that help from a stranger was being poured when she asked.
Marisa Avedra of CBS2 has a story.
Francester Williams is busy in Logan Square’s studio, with clients of all kinds preparing for close-ups.
And that’s a good thing. Because this photographer jumped into her work to distract her from her sorrow.
“Doing this helped me always cry,” she said.
Two weeks ago, William’s brother Frederick was killed as a victim of gun violence at his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
“He loved his family. He had two children. He loved his baby. I don’t know, it’s difficult. How do you get someone together in a few minutes? ? “She said.
To bury him, the family had to raise money, and Williams helped her the best way she knew how. By taking a photo at a discounted price, she called Logan Square on Facebook.
“I made a leaflet and put it out there to let as many people as possible know,” she said.
And it worked. This is how Harold Woods booked his shoot.
“For one, she’s my best friend, so I know what she was experiencing,” he said. “And you know, it’s a small business, and I know many small businesses have been hit hard, especially during COVID, so I feel this is the bare minimum I can do. I did. “
Strangers felt the same way. Within a few days, Williams made 10 reservations and some donations from people who had never met her or her brother.
“Everyone who comes in and shoots will say’I’m sorry’. I think’Thank you for your support’. That means a lot,” Williams said. Said.
She wants her photos to now provide her customers with a comfortable photo like her brother.
