Peoria, Illinois (WMBD) — Around 11:50 a.m. Monday, the Peoria fire used Jaws of Life to help a person trapped in a car on I-74 near the University Street overpass. .
Firefighters responded to the scene after learning the vehicle had hit a concrete wall, according to a Peoria Fire press release. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters found a person trapped in the car.
Firefighters used hydraulic spreaders and cutting tools, or “jaws of life,” to get the driver out of the vehicle, and the driver was taken to the local hospital’s emergency room. The driver said his injuries were not life-threatening.
The crash caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
Peoria police were also present at the scene, directing traffic and investigating the crash.
