Chicago (CBS)- An elderly woman who had been missing from Markham since Sunday night was found and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
Olga A. Gutierrez with dementia, 84 years old, Reported missing earlier this weekAfter she was last seen around 9 pm on Sunday at 3600 blocks on Arthur Terrace, according to Markham police.
Gutierrez was found in the basement of an abandoned house near his home Thursday morning, according to Markham police. She was taken to the UChicagoMedicineIngallsMemorialHospital in the adjacent Harvey for her treatment.
Sergeant Markham police found Gutierrez on Thursday morning in the basement of an abandoned house just three blocks away from his home. She doesn’t know how long she was there.
She was taken to the UChicagoMedicineIngallsMemorial Hospital in the adjacent Harvey for treatment.
Her family was called Thursday morning to come to the hospital to identify her. She was awake and interacting with her family.
Police, the fire brigade, and Gutierrez’s family launched a major search earlier this week to find her. The fire department was using infrared technology to find her. Police dogs and drones were also used in the search.
The day before she went missing, she was dropped off by her daughter at a house with one of her seven children. The next day, when her son, who lives with her, checked her out and went out to eat, no one answered the door of her room.
Her family said Thursday morning that she believed she had just wandered.
