Nine-year-old woman rescued after boy falls into ice in Aurora

AURORA, Illinois — A 9-year-old boy and woman were rescued from Aurora Pond on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:30 pm, officials were dispatched to the frozen part of the reservoir. Police have not revealed the exact location.

A 9-year-old boy fell through the ice after trying to retrieve the football, police said.

A woman also boarded to help the boy. Two Aurora police officers swam to save the boy and woman, police said. The boy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Two police officers were slightly injured. Police said all those involved were released from the hospital.
