Plainfield’s ‘Stranger Things’ display still stands despite controversy

Plainfield, Illinois — Some residents of Plainfield caused a bit of controversy by creating a Stranger Things-themed Halloween attraction.

Using a scene from the popular Netflix series as a motif, the figure of the character Max Mayfield floating in the air is impressive. The character is said to be made of pool noodles.

It gained national attention after the viral video was posted all over social media.

However, there was a bit of controversy surrounding the display, as it was overcrowded.

A heated argument ensued after the incident and the police were called to the house. On Sunday, the family posted on social media that they were considering unplugging the Halloween display, but have since been overwhelmed by the supportive public response.

WGN attempted to speak to neighbors who were unhappy with the displays, but they weren’t home at the time.

The neighborhood falls under both Plainfield and Joliet jurisdictions. WGN reportedly has Plainfield authorized the exhibit.

The family will meet with Joliet on Wednesday to make sure she’s not doing anything she shouldn’t.
