San Diego (NEXSTAR) – Multitasking is a mom’s way of life, but on Wednesday one Padres fan took it to the next level.
At the top of the sixth inning, the camera caught a woman in a Manny Machado jersey, and a baby returned under her left arm to catch a foul ball hit by Cubs pinch hitter Jake Marisnick.
The video shows that the ball caromed from the upper deck to the stand along the first baseline reached by the unidentified mother and played shimmeringly. MLB.com..
“This was a big problem,” says one announcer.
“Towing right-handed grabs and babies,” his booth partner replies. “It’s a great grab, but watch out for the little ones.”
Infants who were unaware of their mother’s defensive skills appeared unaware of the catch and subsequent celebrations.
It was an otherwise rough match highlight for the Padres loyal people who saw the monks lose 3-1.
