Tennessee resorts to rolling blackouts as winter storms strain power grid

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WTVO) — Sub-zero temperatures in Tennessee have forced authorities to implement rolling blackouts in a battle with power grid capacity.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has asked 154 utilities to cut power for 10 to 15 minutes on an ongoing basis after Thursday’s winter storms, with no planned end date.

Nashville Electric Service, Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation, Dickson Electric and Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation are included in the outage. Tennessian.
