Miami (AP) — Caleb Martin scored a career record of 28 points, with the Miami Heat defeating Milwaukee Bucks 113-104 on Wednesday night.
Starting with injured Jimmy Butler, Heat set a franchise record at 223 against defending NBA champions, and Martin shot 12-9 from the field.
Kyle Lowry scored 22 points and 13 assists, and Max Strus scored all 16 points in Miami in the fourth quarter, losing in a row at home in three games.
Jrue Holiday scored 27 points and Khris Middleton scored 20 points at Bucks. Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 15 points as Miami restricted his shots from the field to four-thirteenths.
The heat took the lead with 9 straight points in the final 55 seconds of the third time. Raleigh at the buzzer and three consecutive pointers from PJ Tuckers 3 led Miami 83-77. Tucker finished with 13 points.
Butler, the heat’s top scorer, exacerbated his injury by losing to Memphis on Monday. He missed the previous four games because his coccyx was injured.
Bucks: G George Hill (right knee hyperextension) missed three games in a row. … Antetokunpo blocked the shot and moved into one of the club’s career leaders, Alton Lister, at 804. … Middleton has achieved 6 consecutive victories with over 20 points. Milwaukee is 7-2 when it reaches 20 points.
Heat: The 51-44 half-time deficit was the first deficit in the last three home games where Miami fell below double digits. … G Duncan Robinson played in 173 consecutive games, behind Glen Rice, the most in club history. Robinson started winning streak on April 9, 2019.
Bam Adebayo of the Heat Center is expected to be absent between 4 and 6 weeks after having surgery on his right thumb to repair a torn ligament in Los Angeles on Monday. Adebayo was injured in a home loss with Denver.
Bucks and Heat have already played three times in the first 26 games. Neither team has played against another opponent more than once. Their fourth and final regular season meeting will take place on March 2nd in Milwaukee.
Bucks: We will continue our four-game road trip in Houston on Friday.
Heat: Saturday will be the end of the three-game homestand against Chicago.
