Logan Square Man Barely Survives Stray Bullet During Puerto Rico Parade Celebration

Chicago (WLS)-Scott Morrow knows he’s lucky to be alive after a lost bullet almost hits his spine and is almost killed.

“It was hard because I lost some of my spleen, kidneys and pancreas and repaired my stomach and diaphragm,” he said.

A 41-year-old proofreader and ambitious musician overcame the challenges of the Puerto Rico parade festival around 1 am on June 20th. Morrow, a resident of Logan Square, was walking to his friend Humboldt Park’s house.

“I felt a very sharp pain in my back, crumpled on the ground, and fainted for a minute,” Morrow recalled.

Police found Morrow lying on the sidewalk near the division and Keggie carrying a gunshot wound on his back.

His parents were visiting Michigan with a friend when they knew.

“Basically it was a living nightmare for all parents,” said her mother, Sherry Janius. “No one wants to go through this. No one should go through this.”

Morrow was in a hurry to the mountains. Sinai Hospital said he fought for his life, thinking of the family he didn’t want to leave, the album he desperately wanted to finish, and his beloved Chicago Bears.

“I was thinking about everything I wanted to see and experience in this life,” he said.

Scott continues to recover from his parents’ home in the western suburbs, but he spends nearly a week in the hospital and returns twice due to complications. He suffers from the Survivor Guilt because he is worried about rising medical costs.

The GoFundMe page for families has already raised over $ 30,000. Morrow still has a long recovery before him, but he should be able to lead a fairly normal life in the city he loves.

“I love being in the city,” he said. “There’s a lot to do. I know it’s dangerous. Anything can happen anywhere.”
