Three teens charged with murder after plan to lay eggs and get home turns deadly, attorney says

Spalding County, Georgia (WFLA) – Three Georgia teenagers have been charged with murder after a failed plan to build a home as part of an “ongoing lovers’ fight.”

On July 3, lawmakers responded to a call that a “man was down” on a road in Spalding County. According to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office. When authorities arrived, they found the victim had been shot. The sheriff’s office identified him as Jonathan Gilbert.

Sheriff Darrell Dix said in a statement that three teenagers, Sidney Mohon, 18, Jeremy Manson, 18, and Mackenzie Davenport, 19, said Gilbert saw them and ran outside. At the time, he claimed he had planned to destroy Gilbert’s home with an egg.

“Gilbert saw what they were doing to his residence and came out of the house unarmed to confront them,” the sheriff’s office said. “The suspects ran back to the car and as Gilbert approached them, Sidney Moron, who was in the back seat of the car, pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times. They drove off leaving Gilbert dead in the middle of Dobbins Mill Road.”

Dix did not disclose the boy’s motives, other than the alleged “continuing quarrel between the lovers.”

Investigators found a mobile phone number associated with one of the suspects and tracked him to a nearby county location, the sheriff’s office said. When police arrived, they found the vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting. A gun was also recovered from the car.

Dix said in a press release that all three teenagers have been charged with malicious murder, shooting and trespassing. Moron and Manson were also charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing the crime.

Investigators believe Moron fired the gun, but Dicks said the three teenagers were all guilty because they went to Gilbert’s house “with the intention of committing a crime.”

“All of them are guilty as if they pulled the trigger because they all planned together and went to the scene to commit the crime leading up to the murder,” Dicks said in a statement. . “They went to their house to make eggs, and while they were doing it, the victim confronted them and died. Then they drove off, leaving the body in the middle of the road. I bought the ticket for the , and now they can ride the ride together.”
