(((KTLA) — Owning a private jet is one of those tremendous luxuries that the average person can only dream of during a cramped five-hour domestic flight in economy class.
For the ultra-rich, private jets can be more than just a luxury, they can also be a fairly lucrative business. Celebrities can quickly enjoy traveling anywhere, and when they are not in the air, they can rent a jet for others to use.
But while owning a personal escape plane may sound like a dream, it can be a nightmare for the environment.
Earlier this month, Kylie Jenner fired on a 17-minute private jet. Flight from Camarillo To Van Nuys, California. According to Google Maps, the flight reduced travel time by only about 30 minutes.
Experts say that one hour of flight time on a private jet is about 2 tons of CO2 Jenner’s flight means that it can produce about 1 ton of CO2 during a short flight. On the other hand, the average person produces about 8 tons of CO2 annually.
2021 report TransportEnvironment.org Private jets were found to be 5 to 14 times more polluted than commercial planes and 50 times more polluted than trains per passenger. And of all carbon dioxide pollution produced by airplanes, only 1% of people make up 50% of all emissions.
So who is the worst criminal? You may not know for sure, but thanks to the Twitter account @CelebJets, I have the same account that tracked Jenner’s flight. Celebrity ownership The plane is the culprit.
Marketing and data analysis company Yard used data from Celeb Jets Rank the most polluted planes owned by celebrities. And despite her headlines about Kyrie’s flight habits, she didn’t even break the top ten.
These are the celebrities whose private jets cause the most CO2 pollution.
1. Taylor Swift
Pop star PJ is the top CO2 emission surface tracked by Celeb Jets and Yard.
“Since January, we’ve flown a total of 170 flights on private jets, and Taylor has spent a huge amount of time in the air at 22,923 minutes and 15.9 days. Considering she’s not currently touring, it’s pretty good. It’s a quantity, “Yard wrote in their analysis.
Since then, Swift officials have criticized the rankings, and much of the flight time comes from others who rented her plane.
Star representative released Statement to Rolling Stone “Taylor’s jets are rented out to other individuals on a regular basis … It’s clearly wrong to attribute most or all of these trips to her.”
Still, the plane itself is at the top of the list among celebrities.
2. Floyd Mayweather
The retired boxer came in second in his career for the first time. His shortest flight in 2022 was a 10-minute flight that landed in Las Vegas.
According to Yard, Beyonce’s rapper, producer, and husband made 136 flights on his private jet, emitting 6,981.3 tonnes of CO2. Jay-Z, like Swift, isn’t currently on tour.
However, the wrapper has some room. The jet was purchased by Puma, a shoe company whose creative director is Jay-Z. According to Rolling Stone, jets will be treated as a perk for athletes who have signed the Puma brand.
4. Alex Rodriguez
Business tycoon A-Rod, who turned into a baseball legend, has made more than 100 flights so far this year. The average flight time is about 80 minutes. His flight this year produced more than 700 times more CO2 than the average person produces all year round.
5. Blake Shelton
Country superstar and judge of The Voice, Blake Shelton, is one of the most amazing criminals on the list. His jet spent more than eight days in the air from January, including two short flights between Oklahoma and Texas. It is unknown how many of these flights include Gwen Stefani as a passenger.
6. Steven Spielberg
Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has traveled the world to tell a unique story and get a glimpse of how the rest of the world lives. He is clearly doing his research, and in 2022 he boarded his private plane and took flight 61. Shortest: 48 miles Dutch flight from Amsterdam to Rotterdam.
7. Kim Kardashian
Kyrie’s sister is the top Kardashian in the ranking. Her flight (or at least her flight) emitted 4268.5 tonnes of carbon emissions on 57 flights this year. Studies show that this is 609.8 times the amount that the average person emits in a year.
8. Mark Wahlberg
Marquee Mark’s planes are the biggest pollutants in the acting community. His plane has traveled 101 times this year. The shortest trip was a short trip from Van Nuys to Palm Springs, which took about 30 minutes.
9. Oprah Winfrey
Flying on a private jet is clearly one of Opla’s favorites. “Winfrey’s $ 75 million private jet travels an average of 81.13 minutes at a time, with an average distance of 101.26 miles,” says Yard.
One of her shortest flights was from Van Nuys to Santa Barbara. In Santa Barbara, she owns a home in Montecito. The flight lasts just over 15 minutes, which is equivalent to 1 ton of CO2.
10. Travis Scott
The “SICKO MODE” rapper is Kylie Jenner’s partner and father of two children. It’s unclear how many times the couple flew together, but Jenner was criticized earlier this month. Share photos of couples Stand outside the tarmac outside their private jet and captivate “Do you want to take mine or yours?”
Scott is guilty of averaging the shortest flights of everyone on the top 10 list. His flight in 2022 averaged less than 8 miles per trip. You read it correctly, 8..
Again, it’s important to mention that just because a celebrity owns an airplane doesn’t mean he’s on an airplane. Borrowing or renting a private jet from another person is very common in the jet setup community. Also, this list only lists celebrity planes tracked by @ CelebJets and does not include planes owned by Millionaire or Billionaire that are likely to be involved in much of the emissions. Hmm.
