Oren Ezer, CEO and co-founder of ElectReon, said the bus “can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and does not need to be stopped for charging.”
In an interview with Xinhua, Ezer said the bus receives all the energy it needs to travel “from the road” and that the bus is constantly charged “while the bus is in motion.”
The technology behind it works on long-known principles of physics, “wireless charging or induction was invented about 100 years ago,” Ezer said.
Nonetheless, Elez emphasized that the challenge is to implement the laws of physics in real-world technology.
In November 2020, Electron employees placed a copper coil under approximately 600 meters of asphalt on a 2,000-meter test road near Tel Aviv University and installed additional barely visible equipment next to the road.

At the bottom of the pilot bus is a receiver that sends energy from the coiled copper under the asphalt on the road to the bus engine and to the relatively small lithium battery at the rear of the bus. motion.
If the pilot succeeds, more electric roads will be paved in the coastal city of Tel Aviv and the rest of Israel. Meanwhile, ElectReon is conducting similar pilots in other countries such as Sweden, Italy and Germany.
According to the company’s strategy, the first users in Israel are public transport, such as buses, taxis, and organizations that own large vehicles. After that, any electric vehicle owner will be able to use wireless charging while driving on innovative roads.
According to ElectReon, the solution for charging an electric vehicle can easily change 30% of a particular road, without the large charging points required by other solutions.
