Who Killed Tupac Shakur? Rapper Murder Investigation Raids Las Vegas Area, Officials Tell ABC News

Las Vegas – Police raided a Las Vegas-area home Monday night in the murder of long-dormant hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, a law enforcement official told ABC News.

“LVMPD can confirm that a search warrant was executed in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023 as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur murder investigation. No further comment at this time,” Las Vegas said. police said in a statement.

A video obtained by ABC News showed a moment when police warned people to come out as police executed a search warrant in a home.

Las Vegas murder detectives and prosecutors determined by Monday night they had sufficient information to proceed with a court-approved investigation, an official briefed on the investigation told ABC News. The search was conducted by the Las Vegas Subway Police SWAT at around 10 p.m. local time. The scene was reportedly noisy with police using loudspeakers and lights. Items searched by investigators included computers, laptops, and articles about Tupac and his death. Evidence in the case is now before a grand jury in Las Vegas.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is expected to continue for weeks to months. Investigators have long believed the shooter, most likely already dead, was the victim of another shooting two years after the Las Vegas drive-by. A current investigation may reveal who was in the car with the shooter when Tupac was shot. Then someone could be prosecuted as an accomplice. But officials warn that no decision has yet been made on the charges.

Shakur, one of hip-hop’s most prolific figures, was shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 and died six days later in hospital from his injuries at the age of 25. No arrests have been made.

His professional music career lasted only five years, but sold over 75 million records worldwide. This includes the Diamond certified album ‘All Eyez on Me’ which included hits such as ‘California Love (Remix)’ and ‘I Ain”. ‘t Mad at Cha’ and ‘How Do U Want It’.

On March 9, 1997, the infamous BIG, also known as Biggie Smalls, was shot dead in Los Angeles. The shooting is widely believed to be linked to Tupac’s murder, but like the Tupac case, no arrests have been made.

The Los Angeles Police Department announced Tuesday that it has no updates to share about the Biggie Smalls murder investigation following the news in Las Vegas.
