Wisconsin man charged with stabbing Will County stepfamily, suspected of retaliatory attack

Will County, Illinois — Wisconsin man charged suburban home-related attacks The Cretan couple, Will County lawmakers say, were rooted in revenge.

“The victim, a 66-year-old woman, was stabbed several times by Liu as he entered,” a representative said. “A 68-year-old male victim came to his wife’s defense and was stabbed multiple times. The male victim was able to knock Liu to the ground and eventually snatched his knife. The man stabbed Liu an estimated 17 times to protect himself and his wife.”

All three arrived at a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Liu was scheduled to be handed over to the Huber detention facility in Waukesha County on Dec. 4 following a domestic battery conviction and allegations of violating a protection order, his attorney said. But Liu came from Wisconsin to “wage revenge” on his ex-wife’s parents, a representative said.

Liu parked on the street from his home in Crete and fired several shots at the couple sitting in their living room, authorities said. Fortunately, the husband and wife were unharmed.

Subsequently, Mr. Liu entered the couple’s home through a broken glass sliding door. Once inside, deputies say Liu continued to shoot until the firearm malfunctioned. Authorities say it was then that the stabbing occurred.

Liu was released from the hospital over the weekend and is said to have made several accusatory statements to authorities.

A 66-year-old woman was discharged. A 68-year-old man remains hospitalized but is believed to be in a stable condition.

Liu faces two counts of attempted murder, five counts of burglary, two counts of aggravated domestic assault, four counts of aggravated assault, aggravated firearm shooting, home burglary and home trespassing.
