San Jose, CA-Jake Hayner threw 343 yards in four touchdowns, and Fresno State University defeated San Jose State University 40-9 on Thursday to win the fourth Mountain West Conference Thanksgiving match.
Fresno State University (9-3, 6-2) finishes the first half with continuous touchdowns at 3-minute intervals, and the second half is San Jose State University (5-7, 3-5) with field goals and touchdowns.
Henner connected with Juan Rodriguez from 6 yards and with Jordan Mimus at 45 yards, creating a 23-9 half-time lead. In the second half, Henner had a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Cropper and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Rivers.
Cropper caught 7 passes at 71 yards and Rivers caught 5 times at 91 yards. Cropper also participated in TD.
Fresno State University lags behind San Diego State University in the western part of the Mountain West.
Matt Mercurio kicked a field goal of 31, 26 and 36 yards at San Jose State University, where he lost the last three. Nick Starkel passed 260 yards at 19 out of 42 yards.
Henner has passed 3,810 yards and 32 touchdowns this season. Henner is the seventh bulldog with a 3,000 yard pass season. He has participated in Kevin Sweeney (1984), Trent Dilfer (1992, 1993), David Carr (2001), Paul Pinegar (2005), Derek Carr (2011, 2021, 2013) and Marcus McMaryion (2018).
