Welcome to “Good morning, Irinination”. Daily news of college basketball from Scot Ritchie, Irini’s beatwriter and Associated Press’s top 25 voters. He provides insights to Brad Underwood’s team every morning:
Like John Groce, Brad Underwood can be counted. It was the response of a former Illinois coach every time he was asked about his roster and the number of scholarships. Irini’s current numbers, coupled with what appears to be a real interest in the transfer market, have spawned some interesting mathematics.
If all players on the Illinois roster who can return to another season return in 2022-23, Illino will exceed two scholarship limits. Of course, Jacob Grandison and Coffey Cockburn (though junior) experienced a senior night festival earlier this month. If they choose not to come back, it will correctly put Illinois on the 13 scholarship limit.
Still, Ilini has contacted Niall Quinn (Lafayette), Peyton Sparks (Ball), Trebon Brazil (Missouri) and others, and is reported to be very active on the transfer portal. .. But that’s not all. Irini also reportedly inquired about the following …
Terence Shannon Jr.
6’7 High Flyer Terrence Shannon (Texas Tech) Jr enters the forwarding portal. He has already heard from Kentucky, UConn, Illinois and Michigan. #MacIrvinFire

Within 24 hours after the Red Raiders season lost to Duke in Sweet 16, Texas Tech guards hit the portal for the second time in Shannon. After hiring Shannon from Lincoln Park, Illinois finally committed to DePaul before turning to Texas Tech. Illinois and Kentucky are not surprising among the early teams to get in touch on Friday. Irini now has Tim Anderson on staff, and Anderson has hired Shannon as his depole. Of course, Wildcats staff included Chin Coleman, who was Shannon’s first recruiter in Illinois.
Shannon has been a part-time starter at Texas Tech for the past three seasons. He started 20 of the 26 games he played between 2021 and 2010, averaging 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2 assists. He also shot 6 feet 6, 215 pounds guards 45.5 percent overall, 38.4 percent from the 3-point range, and 78.4 percent on the free throw line.
Michigan and Illinois are two modern schools that are interested in transferring to Utah Valley University, according to sources. @Stockrisers.. I have heard from more than 40 programs of Co., Ltd. Gonzaga, Kentucky, Alabama, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Texas A & M and many more. Also, the outlook for the NBA draft of the sleeping car.

This looks like Cockburn insurance. Illini’s 7-foot player can choose to return to another season at Champane. It’s at least a table option. Otherwise, Eyemark would be an interesting alternative. The 6-11, £ 245 forward was the second-largest rebound in the country in 2021-22 after Oscar Shivwe in Kentucky. Eyemark averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds in the Utah Valley this past season, demonstrating some ability as a stretch 4/5. Canadian tycoons made 20 (43.5 percent) of 46 3 pointers in 32 Wolverins games.
LSU transfers and former ESPN 💯 prospect Brandon Murray have been contacted by Auburn, Tennessee, Illinois, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Kansas St., Maryland, Virginia, Texas A & M, Arkansas and others over the past 24 hours. This year, as a freshman, 32 out of 33 games have started. https://t.co/YNdAoBjc1O

Escape from the LSU after Wilwade’s firing was quick. This does not include former Illinois guard Adam Miller (yet), but Illino is clearly interested in one of his teammates. Murray is a top 100 rookie in the 2021 class, starting 32 of the 33 Tigers games this season, averaging 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Murray is a hit in some aspects of Illinois. He is a bigger guard at £ 6-5 and £ 214 (which is necessary), originally from Baltimore (Chester Fraser) and went to the IMG Academy (Blood Underwood likes the winner).
