Gigi Gianni knocked it out of the park.
“She has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome on her face, and standing up today meant everything,” said her mother, Nancy Gianni.
Nancy Janna founded the first Gigi playhouse in Hoffman Estates after her daughter was born 19 years ago. It has provided activities and education to people with Down Syndrome and has grown rapidly to 54 locations in the United States and Mexico.
The White Sox asked Gigi to sing for a night of developmental disabilities.
Julie Taylor, Guest Services Director of the White Sox, said:
In fact, Gigi is like a rock star here, with fans coming to meet her and take pictures. Despite all the Houpla, she was calm.
“I’m never nervous,” she said. “that’s all [my mom] I’m nervous. “
“It was like a moment of gratitude to God,” said Nancy Gianni. “She represents those who need our support, those who believe in them. Look at their potential, not their limits.”
Gigi said he accepted his role as Gigi’s playhouse ambassador, recognizing that such performances would help encourage others with Down Syndrome to recognize that anything is possible. I am.
