Gerrymandering surges as state redraws housesheet map

All newly passed parliamentary maps in Indiana, Arkansas, and Alabama retain the existing Republican dominance. Of the total of 17 US House seats from these states, the Democratic Party holds only three, which seems unlikely to change. In Indiana, the new map concentrates Democrats in the Indianapolis area. In Arkansas, the GOP plan to split voters in Little Rock’s Black Democratic Party wasn’t nervous even for the Republican Governor, who officially officialized it without his signature. In Alabama, a lawsuit from a Democratic group claims that the map “strategicly cracks and squeezes the black community in Alabama, weakening black voting power.”
