Due to its shared architecture, the GV60 should be about the same size as the Ioniq 5 and EV6-despite its compact crossover, it looks small in the photo. The short front and rear overhangs provide more interior space, and the headlights and taillights have the same two-line design as other Genesis new cars.
The GV60 marks the first application of a clamshell hood to Genesis products, with a much cleaner front end. Electric cars don’t necessarily need that big opening, but big grills are typical of Genesis. Still, we like what is commonly seen here, especially the way the roofline slopes and gradually tapers towards the hatchback, with a small ducktail above the taillights to aid aerodynamics. ..
The interior is arguably the coolest part of the GV60, and the blue upholstery depicted here is just too cool. The digital gauge cluster and infotainment display are housed in one long housing. The GV60 also has a side-view camera instead of a traditional mirror that displays the feed on a small screen with the door touching the dashboard.
If you look at the center console, you’ll see what Genesis calls the Crystal Sphere (probably because it’s literally the Crystal Sphere). It’s actually an electronic gear selector, and Genesis states that it “intuitively notifies the driver when the vehicle is ready to drive.”
“When the vehicle is turned off, Crystal Sphere provides ambient lighting and enhances the aesthetics of the driving experience,” Genesis said in a statement. “When you’re ready to drive, the ball spins and [gear selector] Introducing, creating a futuristic, mobile interior atmosphere. “
Genesis has not currently confirmed the mechanical details of the GV60, but since it shares the platform with the Ioniq 5 and EV6, it should be assumed that it will use the same electric powertrain. This means that a 77.4kWh battery pack must be mounted between the axles and both single-motor and dual-motor configurations available. For the US version of the Ioniq 5, you’ll see 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft torque in a single-motor setting, and 320hp and 446lb-ft torque in a dual-motor configuration. The GV60 should also benefit from an 800 volt electrical system. That means you can connect it to a 350 kW quick charger. With Ioniq 5, this setting allows the battery to transition from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes.
