Gabby Giffords attends Highland Park’s Virtual Town Hall to focus on healing a month after filming the parade

Chicago (CBS) — This week marks a month since the Highland Park shooting, and the city is taking important steps in hopes of helping it heal.

Highland Park Strong ‘Survivorship Town Hall’ will be held on Zoom on Wednesday night at 7:30pm. You can register for his meeting on Zoom. here.

The community will hear from activist and former Congressman Gabby Giffords and the healing process expert who survived the 2011 mass shooting and founded an organization to prevent gun violence.

She and other experts talk about what it means to be a survivor and how to get support.

City officials in Highland Park cleared the memorial in Port Clinton Square this week and moved items to a temporary memorial.

The city plans to build a permanent memorial to commemorate the victims.

All items on the 4th of July Parade Route have been cleared for release.
