East Bluff Heartland Health Services Vaccine Clinic Offers Incentives to Get Vaccinated

Peoria, Illinois (WMBD) — East Bluff Heartland Health Services addressed vaccine hesitation by administering the vaccine at its first vaccine clinic on Saturday, June 12.

In partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield, event leaders provided vaccines, medical information and food boxes from the Peoria Area Food Bank and the Midwest Food Bank.

Michelle Sanders, director of development and marketing for Heartland Health Services, said the event was one way to educate people about the COVID-19 vaccine and the viruses in its community.

“We were told by many that you were just trying to bribe us to take this shot,” Sanders said. “No, we just want to educate you, inform you of the services available, and let you know that Heartland is here.”

As an incentive for vaccination, everyone who received the shot participated to win a grill, a grill set, and a free lunch.

The Heartland Health Services organization has vaccinated more than 1,000 people across Peoria since April, Sanders said.

She said she was ready to host more events based on the needs of the community.
