Demonstrators march down Michigan Avenue to show support for Iranian protesters

Chicago (CBS) — For the second day in a row, demonstrators stormed Michigan Avenue in a show of solidarity with ongoing protests in Iran.

Protesters are speaking out against the killing of 22-year-old Masa Amini, who died after being arrested by the country’s morality police for allegedly wearing a hijab improperly.

Iranian officials say she died of a heart attack, but her family says she was beaten to death while in custody.

Her death sparked deadly protests in Tehran and demonstrations in at least 40 American cities.

Protesters say there is no need to beg for human rights.

“Everyone is furious. Everyone is so angry with the government that most people don’t want it,” said Solosh Azizi and Iranian demonstrators.

This is the third Chicago protest this week for justice in Iran.
